Geology
Geologic studies conducted by the Alaska Volcano Observatory help provide timely and accurate assessments, warnings, and interpretations. They publish eruptive histories and hazard assessments of individual volcanoes and conduct detailed studies and document recent or ongoing eruptions in order to understand magmatic processes and refine eruption models. In support of these tasks, AVO also creates and maintains databases of samples, geochemistry, and imagery.
