Global Positioning System
A Global Positioning System is a recording device that is anchored to the ground (the legs extend several meters into the ground), and records movement of the ground to an accuracy of one centimeter or less over time. A GPS receiver uses orbiting satellites to determine its exact location on the surface of the earth.
