Cayman Islands Network

CY Network from the Cayman Islands http://ds.iris.edu/mda/CY

Over the course of the last year, the Hazard Management office of the Cayman Islands, led by Lee Madison, installed 4 new broadband sensors that now contribute real-time data to the Caribbean Early Warning System and are openly shared by IRIS to the community. Special thanks goes to Lee who, as an outsider to seismology, took on the job of perfecting metadata and station operation while working with ISTI to get EarthWorm installed. He offered that it was a break for him from controlling the mosquito population, another of his duties at time.

This network now joins the broader collaboration that is growing in the Caribbean and data from the virtual network http://ds.iris.edu/mda/_CARIBE-EWS illustrates how many organizations are sending data both to IRIS and to the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez (UPRN) for monitoring purposes.
