Software Information List Server

IRIS announces the creation of a new maillist to provide a means for announcing new software products, new software releases, new features, and bug reports. This list is limited to software produced and supported as part of the IRIS Data Management System.

This maillist is software-info@iris.washington.edu and is open to anyone who wishes to subscribe, although submissions will be restricted to IRIS DMC staff. All submissions will be archived and may be retrieved at anytime by any list member.

If you have a bug report or question about an IRIS software package you contact us where it will be handled by DMC staff and if appropriate posted to the software-info listserver.

Once you’ve determined that you wish to subscribe to this list, you can send commands to Majordomo to have it add you to the list, so you can begin receiving mailings. To receive list mail at the address from which you’re sending your mail, simply send an email to majordomo@iris.washington.edu with the following line in the body of the mail message:

subscribe software-info

If for some reason you wish to have the mailings go to a different address (a friend’s address, a specific other system on which you have an account, or an address which is more correct than the one that automatically appears in the “From:” header on the mail you send), you would add that address to the command. For instance, if you’re sending a request from your work account, but wish to receive “demo-list” mail at your personal account (for which we will use “jqpublic@my-isp.com” as an example), you’d put the line:

subscribe software-info jqpublic@my-isp.com

in the mail message body.

Remember, with Majordomo maillists commands are submitted in the message body, not the subject. There should be no other text in your message body, including signature lines. If your signature line must be included, put an “end” command on the line immediately following your other commands.

Please contact us if you have any questions about this new service.
