Knowledge Base Question

Is there a faster way than breq_fast to download an entire set of waveforms from your archives?

I recently started to download waveforms of the Retreat project, YI from your web-site. Since I need to download the entire dataset, spanning from 2003 and 2006 for more than 50 stations, I have prepared a simple script that allow to prepare the request using breq_fast format, to send it and to download the daily SEED file for each station once they’re ready. Until now, this sequence is working well, but it is limited because it take a long time since the SEED file is prepared. My question is: does it exist a faster way to download an entire set of waveforms from your server? If yes, How??

I understand that there will be a lot of requests for daily/station files for this much data from 2003 and 2006 for more than 50 stations.

We have limitation on each fullseed of 30GB.

Here are my suggestions to reduce the number of request and download time:

  1. You can send in all 50 stations for a day, or
  2. you can send in each station for each year or multiple years.

If you do this and use rdseed to extract the data, you may not get a single day file. I have to mention this because many users want to have individual day file.
