News Archive : Popular Mathworks blog publishes 'how-to' article on using irisFetch library for accessing seismological data

Posted on

Today Loren Shure published a blog post on MATLAB Central illustrating how easy it is to use the DMC’s very own irisFetch Matlab library for accessing and downloading seismic data.

The article gives a great contextual background on irisFetch and how easy it provides seamless access to data stored at the DMC, as well as other data centers that deploy FDSN standard web services, via the IRIS-WS Java library.

Importantly, it describes how users do not need to know anything about Java or networking to query and retrieve our data holdings. It also gives many use-case examples, including plotting time series data, maps of events, and utilizing the MATLAB Mapping Toolbox.
