If your data are in miniSEED and you have a dataless SEED
file containing the metadata (e.g. if your data are from
ORFEUS, you can download the dataless SEED file for your
station(s) separately from the ORFEUS website), then you
have to set the environment variable "ALT_RESPONSE_FILE"
to the name of your dataless SEED file (e.g. in the
bash shell, issue the command "export ALT_RESPONSE_FILE=filename",
then invoke "rdseed" with the name of your miniSEED file. Once in
"rdseed", use the "d" (dump) option, and when it prompts
for "output poles and zeros" answer "yes". This should
write the poles and zeros in SAC format.
