Yes there is a new website. The new website is being hosted by IRIS.
www.iris.edu/manuals/sac/manual.html
I'm not sure why they didn't take down the old llnl site or at least
give you a redirect.

Hi,

I've reported similar such problems in the past to Peter Goldstein, but
from what I understand, they didn't have the resources to look into
them. After a while I thought it would be good to write them all down,
thus the webpage that is the first to come up on google searching for
"Problems with SAC2000":

http://sail.ucsd.edu/~walker/sac.html

Anyway, what is version 100.1 and where is discussed? I don't recall
hearing about this release, and the website doesn't talk about it:

http://www.llnl.gov/sac/SAC_Info_Install/New_Feature_Release.html

Is there a new SAC website for which I missed the announcement?

However, many of these problems existed on other systems and were
fixed in version 100.1. I suggest trying that version and then report

back about problems that persist.

    Megan, thanks much for the info. I'll add this to my bookmarks and
    hope that google picks it up soon. It would be helpful to have LLNL
    redirect.

    Arthur, I just checked the posted release notes for version 100. I
    don't have version 100, but I recall byte-swapping still existing in an
    older version that I installed our sun and linux machines. Maybe it is
    actually part of version 00.59.46? Would it be possible to have a
    comprehensive list of the bugs that were identified by the SAC
    developers and/or fixed on this website? I know it would be extremely
    helpful to some.

    Cheers,

        The Changes file is a bit hard to decipher. The History files give a
        better run down of what is available in the releases. As I can recall,.
        Version 100.1 was not sent to IRIS due to a readhdr/writehdr bug. In this
        case the most recent version is 100.00. I suspect version 100.1 would be
        available at IRIS within the next few weeks.

        Release 100.1 should fix most of the bugs (X11 redraw, color, and the help
        bug) descibed earlier. The rollback bug and the display of the crosshairs
        in ppk are esentially still open bugs and need more examination.

        Here is the current History file

        2005/06/01 Version 100.1 - Not sent to IRIS
        * Supported Platforms: Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X
        * Command line editing
        * X11 Windowing bug fixes
        * Enhancements to sgftops (bin/sgftoeps.csh)

        2004/12/08 Version 100.00
        * Supported Platforms: Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X
        * Automatic Byte-swapping added
        * Initial Release of OS X version
        * Linux readalpha bug fix

        Cheers,
        Brian

    In June/July we uploaded a "beta" version of sac, v 100.1, to IRIS.
    Somehow it slipped through the cracks to let people know. There is now a
    link to it on http://www.iris.edu/manuals/sac/.
