Hotel Deadline
Hotel registration at the much cheaper group rate closes this Friday, May 13th. If you are planning to attend the IRIS Workshop, please make your hotel reservations this week. A reminder that all participants—including supported participants—must make their own hotel and flight reservations upfront and then submit for reimbursement later. The only exception to this rule is for students who have received a scholarship. IRIS will be booking and assigning shared rooms for those students.
To reserve a room, please visit www.iris.edu/irisworkshop and click on the ‘Travel’ tab.
Field Trip Update
We are pleased to announce that we have reserved a second bus for the Mount St Helens field trip and have arranged for legendary volcano seismologist Steve Malone to provide on-board narration! In addition to Steve, Seth Moran (Scientist-in-Charge, Cascade Volcano Observatory) will also be providing expert narration aboard one of the buses. Both Seth and Steve possess a wealth of knowledge about Mount St Helens and will undoubtedly have many great stories to share on this field trip.
With the addition of a second bus, there are now available spots again for the field trip. Please head over to the IRIS Workshop webpage (www.iris.edu/irisworkshop http://www.iris.edu/irisworkshop) and click the ‘Field Trip’ tab to sign up. After you have signed up, IRIS will follow up with you via email about making the field trip payment of $50.
If you have already signed up for the field trip and were on the waiting list, we will be contacting you to arrange payment.
Can’t make it for the field trip? Consider taking a free tour of the operational facilities of the Loowit Brewing Company (directly across the street from the conference hotel) at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, June 7

Thanks to all who submitted their abstracts last week. We are currently reviewing and organizing those and hope to have them posted on the workshop website in the next week or two.
