JAMSTEC is recruiting a total of 1 tenure-track position as a Scientist or Technical Scientist at Fault Mechanics Research Group, Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research (KOCHI).
Job Specification
The Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) has one opening for a full-time tenure-track scientist or technical scientist. The successful applicant will contribute to research on solid-earth processes including earthquake fault activity at convergent and divergent plate boundaries using cutting-edge deformation/fluid flow equipment and the analytical facilities at the institute. All areas of technical expertise will be considered, but with preference for rock mechanics, geology and geophysics. The successful applicant will participate in scientific drilling projects such as the International Ocean Discovery Program (http://www.iodp.org/) and will carry out integrated research using techniques such as laboratory analyses/experiments, downhole logging, exploration geophysics, and/or geo-modeling.
