The USGS Earthquake Science Center in Pasadena are hiring two Electronics Technicians to support the Southern California Seismic Network.

The USGS is seeking Electronics Technicians with experience and skill operating and maintaining sophisticated electronic seismic, telemetry, and computer systems.

The position is part of a USGS-university team that operates and maintains over 300 realtime seismic stations in southern California as part of Advanced
National Seismic System. Some specific duties include:

-Install, configure, diagnose, and repair sophisticated electronic seismic and GPS station components including, seismometers, dataloggers, Earthworm hub computers,
GPS receivers, power systems, solar panels, batteries, chargers, telephone circuits, satellite equipment, cellular modems, analog and digital radios, microwave radios,
antennas, towers, computer networking equipment (routers, hubs and switches), and FM discriminators.
-Plan, design, and fabricate state-of-the-art telemetry and electronic systems as part of the installation or upgrade of seismic and GPS stations.
-Document work performed.
-Collaborates with other personnel setting maintenance priorities and planning work schedules.
-Maintains inventory and purchase field supplies and equipment for the field team.

Openings for these full-time, permanent positions (GS-0856-09/11) exist in Pasadena office of the Earthquake Science Center and remote duty station in either San Diego or Imperial Counties in California.
