We invite applications, particularly from early-year graduate students
or those starting graduate programs in the fall, who are interested in
attending the IRIS-EarthScope USArray Data Processing and Analysis
Introductory Short Course. Advisors, tell your students. Students, tell
your friends.
The course will be held at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois
from August 4-8, 2014. Topics will include command-line tools (unix,
gmt, sac, python), matlab, bulk data access strategies, and the
introduction and application of analytical techniques (e.g. earthquake
location, shear-wave splitting, receiver function calculation, P-delay
analysis) to USArray data.
Travel support is available to accepted applicants, and expenses related
to lodging (double occupancy) and meals are covered. International
applicants are welcome to apply, but must cover their expenses related
to travel into the United States.
