Postdoctoral Research in Seismology

A postdoctoral research position in seismology is available in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Research projects are focused on using seismic methods to investigate lithospheric tectonics. Current research projects are located in Nepal, Tibet, Sumatra, and the Western USA with opportunities for seismology field work. The successful applicant will need to complete a Ph.D. in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field before starting the postdoc. Experience with Unix, GMT, MATLAB, C++/ Fortran, seismic data processing, SAC, and/ or PROMAX is preferred. The position is for 1 year initially with the possibility of continuing for a second year.
