Graduate research assistantship is available for one or two highly motivated graduate students (PhD student preferred) to participate in a NSF-funded research in active crustal deformation and earthquakes in plate interior. Students will have the opportunity to integrate geological and geodetic results with cutting-edge geodynamic modeling to study fault interactions and earthquakes in the central and eastern US and other continents. This research will involve international collaboration with scientists in China and Europe. Students with solid background in physics and computation should contact Dr. Mian Liu (lium<at>missouri.edu). Information about the Geophysics Group at the Department of Geological Sciences may be found at
http://geology.missouri.edu/. The application deadline is January 31, 2017, although short extensions may be granted if necessary.
