Hello, I´m Laura, a student of physics at Universidad Complutense de
Madrid, and I need help with the software sac, the program does not
initialize (see the picture) , and I can´t work with it. In this picture
you can see "20.79 over 3 days" and I don´t know what does this means, I
have decompressed the file and installed by the way you told me and I can´t
do anything, I don´t know what is the problem.

I used linux (ubuntu) 64 bits

    Hi,

    have you check if the path for SACHOME and SACAUX are correctly defined in your environment?

    Hello, probably you have another software with the same name "sac". Try
    linux command

    which sac

    to show what sac you run.

      Hi Laura-

      I agree with Vladimir. Also, try typing 'alias' on the command line and see if there are commands named 'sac' or 'SAC'. Someone might have set up a shortcut for a different command.

      You will want to locate on the filesystem where SAC is installed. Also, there are environment variables that should be set, like SACHOME and SACAUX.

      You can run 'env' and see if there are any of these settings already in place. The commands for setting these are as follows (credit: Satish Maurya):

      export SACHOME=/usr/local/sac (Your sac path location)
      export SACAUX=$SACHOME/aux
      export PATH=$SACHOME/bin:$PATH
