The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Michigan State University seeks PhD students and a postdoctoral researcher in seismology. Research topics will focus on Earth's crust and mantle structures, particularly about subduction zones and the mantle transition zone. The successful candidates will join a rapidly growing geophysics group at MSU to work with professors of seismology, geodynamics, and mineral physics. More information about research topics can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/songqiaowei/research.

The application deadline for PhD positions is December 1st. Please check https://ees.natsci.msu.edu/academics/graduate/ for detailed information. Financial support will be available through TA/RA positions or university/department fellowships. Interested students with backgrounds in earth science and physics are encouraged to contact Dr. S. Shawn Wei (swei<at>msu.edu) for possible research projects.

The postdoc position will be a full-time 1-year appointment, renewable for a second year pending progress and funding. The starting date will be flexible, as early as January 2018. Completion of a PhD degree is required by the time of appointment. Application materials include a CV, a research statement, and contact information of three references. Please send the application package to Dr. S. Shawn Wei (swei<at>msu.edu). The postdoc position will be open until filled.
