Institution: ETH Zürich
Open Until: 2017-10-31
The candidate is expected to develop methods based on e.g., waveform modeling, body- and surface-waves, normal modes, and attenuation structure to study the interior of a planet. The project is situated broadly in the domain of seismology and computational geophysics and is timed to overlap with the upcoming NASA-lead Mars InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) mission to be launched in May 2018 that will emplace a seismometer on Mars. In this context, methods developed during the project will be applied to data returned from InSight to study the interior of Mars.
The Department of Earth Sciences at ETH Zurich offers excellent working conditions in a highly stimulating environment. The salary will be in accordance with the regulations of ETH Zurich.
Applications should include a CV, statement of research interests, complete course grades and transcripts, and the names and addresses of two references. The selection process starts now (September 2017) and will continue until the position is filled. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal:
