Tenure-Track Faculty Position, Potential Fields Geophysicist - The University of Alabama Department of Geological Sciences

The Department of Geological Sciences at The University of Alabama (UA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in potential fields geophysics. This position will begin August 2018 and will be filled at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates who specialize in potential fields (gravity, magnetics, electricity, and/or electromagnetism), including data acquisition, processing, and interpretation, with research interests in near-surface, environmental, hydrologic, exploration, and solid-earth geophysics are invited to apply. It is expected that this position will enhance UA research focused on water, energy, and the environment with an emphasis on hydrogeology, petroleum systems, and/or tectonics. Candidates must have a strong record of research and teaching, and they must have received a Ph.D. in geology, geophysics, or a related field by the time of their appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and to attract and advise high-quality graduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her specialty and introductory geology. The department has a broad range of geophysical and computational facilities, in addition to University-shared facilities.
