We are pleased to announce a short course adjacent to the upcoming IRIS Workshop titled: Science Communication: Networking Skills for Early Career Scientists (https://www.iris.edu/hq/site/PAGE_static/5439).

Date and time: Monday June 11, 2018 from 1PM to 5PM
Location: Albuquerque Convention Center, Albuquerque, NM (room TBD).

The short course is open to all but limited to 35 participants. This course takes a hands-on approach to learning the tricks of science communication, focusing on effective networking. We will work on perfecting your "elevator speech" for different audiences, learning how to use social media to expand your online network and promote your research, present tips for giving a good media interview and practice networking skills you can utilize during meetings and conferences. While this workshop is geared towards early career scientists (grad students, post-docs, pre-tenured faculty) the tips and tricks are useful for scientists at any career stage.

IRIS EPO will cover the cost of dinner and one nights lodging (double occupancy) at the conference hotel  http://doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/groups/personalized/A/ALBSMDT-IRI-20180610/index.jhtmlon the night of the short course for all short course participants.

Please respond to wendy.bohon<at>iris.edu by May 18, 2018 to register for the course.
