The Wilson Alaska Technical Center (WATC) of the University of Alaska
Fairbanks (UAF) Geophysical Institute is looking to fill two positions in
support of growing requirements in the operation and maintenance of
monitoring stations in support of the US effort under the Comprehensive
Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty’s International Monitoring System. WATC operates
seismic and infrasound stations across the globe, from Antarctica to Alaska
to tropical islands, and will be a part of the anticipated Geophysical
Detection of Nuclear Proliferation UARC at UAF.

The Operations Manager will help guide operational efforts to ensure
successful operation and maintenance of WATC’s nuclear non-proliferation
programs. Specific duties include logistics coordination, lifecycle
management, fiscal performance monitoring, and responsibility for meeting
reporting requirements. Travel will be required for program reviews,
presentation of project status, and may include limited field work. Persons
with operations management experience in remote field environments not
specifically related to nuclear non-proliferation are also encouraged to
apply. To apply or find more information go to
http://careers.alaska.edu/cw/en-us/job/509666/watc-it-manager.

The Field Technician will engage in both field- and lab-based work. At UAF,
performing engineering tasks, field-work preparations, and reporting
requirements will be the mainstay of the day-to-day routine. Extensive
fieldwork will take the technician to remote locations, where they must be
flexible in the face of rapidly changing requirements and situations, be
able to independently assess and solve technical problems, and work as a
part of team. To apply or find more information go to
http://careers.alaska.edu/cw/en-us/job/509688/gi-watc-field-technician.

Review for both positions begins 29 July 2018. Inquiries should be directed
to Dr. David Fee at dfee1<at>alaska.edu or Dr. Curt Szuberla at
caszuberla<at>alaska.edu.

UAF is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and educational
