Dear Colleagues,

We welcome your contribution to T014: Deep Structure and Geodynamics of the Continental Convergence Zones. This is an interdisciplinary session of the geology and geophysics of crustal and mantle lithospheric structures under collisional orogenic belts.


T014: Deep Structure and Geodynamics of the Continental Convergence Zones

Old continents have thick lithospheres, complex deep structures and compositional variation, that in turn produce even more complexity during continental collision. Continental geodynamics is becoming evermore important in the understanding of continental formation and evolution. For example, ancient continental convergent boundaries are related to the formation of major intracontinental oil and gas bearing basins in the cratons, while active continental convergent zones modify Earth’s climate. Hence the decoding of deep structure, composition and geodynamics of continental convergent boundaries is an important subject for geologists, geophysicists, and geochemists. We welcome submissions on all aspects of global continental convergent boundaries, ancient and modern.
