Catalyzing Opportunities for Research in the Earth Sciences: A Decadal Survey for NSF's Division of Earth Sciences
Dear colleagues,
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has been asked by the National Science Foundation’s Division of Earth Sciences to convene a public workshop to address different management models for future seismological and geodetic facility capabilities such as instrumentation, user support services, data management, education/outreach, and workforce development for the Division of Earth Sciences. This workshop will inform the Catalyzing Opportunities for Research in the Earth Sciences (CORES) study. The workshop planning committee will consist of approximately 6 members, of which half will be drawn from the CORES committee; additional members with appropriate expertise will be selected. We are seeking nominations for volunteers who would be interested in joining the planning committee for this workshop. We specifically seek expertise in management of scientific infrastructure and/or in geophysics disciplines such as geodesy and seismology.
The time commitment is approximately 5 months, and will include planning the workshop, selecting and inviting speakers and participants, and moderating the discussion. The workshop will result in a rapporteur-authored proceedings.
