Thread: Duty seismologist at the USGS National Earthquake Information Center

Dear Colleagues,


The USGS National Earthquake Information Center is advertising for an
on-duty seismologist position stationed in Golden, Colorado. Duties include
working quickly, thoughtfully, and under pressure to produce earthquake
locations and magnitudes that are distributed to emergency responders,
government agencies, the press, and millions in the general public.
Locations, magnitudes and higher-level products such as impact reports and
moment tensors are produced for earthquakes throughout the world. The
successful candidate will also answers questions from the press and general
public submitted via phone and email. This opening if for a night-shift
position 11pm to 8am.
