Thread: Help downloading a catalog

Hi Angela,

If I’m understanding you correctly, you would like to download time series data from network TW (Broadband Array in Taiwan for Seismology (BATS))?

The best way to download this data is using the IRIS FetchData command line program https://seiscode.iris.washington.edu/projects/ws-fetch-scripts/wiki#Using-the-scripts-with-data-centers-other-than-the-IRIS-DMC. Below are steps for doing this:

Download the latest version of FetchData from the following page: https://seiscode.iris.washington.edu/projects/ws-fetch-scripts/files
Make the FetchData script executable
chmod +x FetchData-2018.337
Download the time series data by running FetchData in the terminal
./FetchData-2018.337 -N TW -F -s 1973-01-01T00:00:00.0 -e 2009-01-01T00:00:00 -o TW_1973_2008.ms -m TW_1973_2008.xml

The time series data holdings for network TW are split between the Taiwanese BATS datacenter and the IRISDMC. Running the FetchData program with the -F option will use the IRIS FedCatalog web service http://service.iris.edu/irisws/fedcatalog/1/ to seamlessly download the data from both datacenters. You can preview what data will be requested from either datacenter by making requests to the Fedcatalog service http://service.iris.edu/irisws/fedcatalog/1/query?net=TW.
