Hello web service users,

In June 2019 the Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN) adopted a web service specification for accessing time series data availability information. IRIS Data Services (DS) is pleased to announce the release of two new services that comply with the FDSN availability specification https://www.fdsn.org/webservices/fdsnws-availability-1.0.pdf; Introducing the fdsnws-availability  http://service.iris.edu/fdsnws/availability/1/and ph5ws-availability http://service.iris.edu/ph5ws/availability/1/ web services.

The fdsnws-availability service reports the availability of time series data in the IRIS DS primary miniSEED archive based on channel identifier information and time range. Now that an official FDSN specification has been adopted, the irisws-availability https://service.iris.edu/irisws/availability/1/ web service will be deprecated at a future date. We ask that users of the irisws-availability service, released in June 2017, begin updating their software to utilize the new fdsnws-availability service.

The ph5ws-availability service provides the same functionality as the fdsnws-availability service for the PH5 archive for active and passive source experiments. The majority of these experiments consists of large-N arrays that are not typically archived as miniSEED.

We welcome your feedback and questions.

Sincerely,
