Opportunity: The research carried about by this position will focus mainly on fiber-optic sensing (FOS) applications in the oil industry, ranging from seismic VSP, microseismic, low-frequency strain measurements, to production logging, leakage detection, and artificial lift monitoring. The successful candidate will be able to develop physical-based and machine-learning based models to interpret FOS data. The candidate will guide graduate-level students to advance research in the area as well as make his/her own contributions. The candidate will also lead the Python-based software development. RCP will provide appropriate data in the related research areas through multiple on-going projects.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited university and have a strong background in Physics, Mathematics, Signal Processing and Programming. Additional knowledge in Geophysics, Geology and Engineering would be valuable but is not required to apply.

To Apply: Applicants must submit a cover letter covering background and interests; undergraduate and graduate transcripts; resume (including: list of publications, list of any prior grants, computational knowledge); and three letters of recommendation. Application reviews will begin in October and continue until the position is filled.
