The gravitational-wave group at the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) is looking for a postdoc interested in carrying out seismic site-characterization measurements and analyses of seismic data for a candidate site in Sardinia of the Einstein Telescope. The Einstein Telescope is a proposed next-generation, gravitational-wave detector that will operate underground, and for which seismic disturbances and terrestrial gravity fluctuations from seismic and atmospheric fields play a major role. The site studies will be done in collaboration with a team consisting of gravitational-wave experts as well as members of INGV, the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology. This postdoc position is part of the PRIN project “Characterization of the Sos Enattos mine in Sardinia as the site for the Einstein Telescope GW observatory”. The position is for 2 years and can be extended by another year subject to availability of funds. Net salary varies, but typically lies around 2700€ per month.
