We invite you to apply for the position of Field Engineer (Electronics Technician) at the USGS Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory (ASL). The mission of the ASL is to support the operation and maintenance of seismic networks. As part of this mission, the ASL is responsible for the USGS-portion of the Global Seismographic Network (GSN), the ANSS backbone network, the N4 network, and for deploying aftershock systems for earthquakes of interest worldwide. The ASL also runs the ANSS depot, a facility to support ANSS networks and maintains an instrument facility for the development, testing, and evaluation of seismological equipment. ASL staff are based in Albuquerque, NM
This position includes: Participating in the installation of remote seismographic stations and independently performing maintenance on the equipment, Being responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the seismographic equipment depot, and Coordinating with scientific personnel to evaluate station performance.
