The New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources is seeking to hire a seismic analyst to support the manager of the New Mexico Tech Seismological Observatory with the goal of documenting and understanding seismicity occurring in New Mexico. You will be expected to analyze data collected by the seismic network to locate earthquakes occurring in the Delaware Basin and other parts of New Mexico on a daily basis. You will also help carry out fieldwork to maintain and improve the network. In addition to these tasks, you will have the opportunity to participate in research projects to better understand induced seismicity in New Mexico.

Located in Socorro, New Mexico, the bureau is a Research and Public Service Division of New Mexico Tech, serving as the state’s geologic survey responsible for studying the state’s natural resources and hazards. The bureau is comprised of a diverse team of geoscience researchers and technical staff embedded in a top-ranked STEM university.
