UNAVCO, a non-profit university-governed consortium, is seeking
applications for our Director, Geodetic Data Services position to continue
our efforts to facilitate geoscience research and education using geodesy. The
Director interacts with program sponsors at the National Science
Foundation, NASA, USGS, with research community members, with peers at
other facilities and programs and other agencies as appropriate to set and
met program goals. This role will develop and advance geodesy projects
directly and through program staff.

The Director, Geodetic Data Services is responsible for functional and
programmatic services, securing funds and resources, and leading technical
staff in all assigned areas within Geodetic Data Services to support the
program on behalf of the science community. The Director is expected to set
direction aligned with science community planning, and develop support for
the program on behalf of the science community. Additionally, the incumbent
will oversee UNAVCO’s transition to a cloud native architecture and the
normalization of the NOTA network to high-rate, low latency applications
like ShakeAlert (http://www.shakealert.org).

*Leadership and Supervision*

The Director will supervise program managers, technical staff, and assigned
support staff. As a senior leader, the incumbent will be respected as a
subject matter expert and relied upon to initiate and drive relevant
policies and procedures that align with UNAVCO’s operating standards and
mission.

*Required Skills and Knowledge*

- Ability to support and apply a high level of discernment and
collegiality as a member of the UNAVCO senior management team.
- Expert spoken and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of program subject matter including relevant science,
technology, data management and products.
- Working knowledge of NSF and NASA Research and Facilities Programs
- Ability to undertake frequent and extended travel in response to
external events, or other duties outside of established working hours.



*Required Experience and Education*

- Earned doctorate in geosciences or closely related field.
- Eight or more years of relevant professional experience in geoscience.
- Four or more years of managerial experience including demonstrated
effectiveness in working with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and
community members in a face-paced and collaborative environment.
- Effective use of program management tools.



*Job Location*

Boulder, Colorado, United States. UNAVCO supports a robust remote work
environment, while the job is located in Boulder, alternate living
locations will be considered.

Salary $120,353.00 - $186,547.00 USD
