The Earthquake Seismology group in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (http://www.mcgill.ca/eps/), McGill University, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in earthquake cycle modeling. The project aims to investigate earthquake rupture and slow slip processes using numerical models constrained by surface displacement observations. The primary role of the postdoc researcher is to integrate earthquake and aseismic slip model with Bayesian data assimilation method toward the development of a fault slip predictive system with a focus on the Cascadia subduction zone. The successful candidate will also be affiliated with the interdisciplinary Earthquake Process Group in EPS, and will join a collaboration with the Department Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in earthquake seismology, geomechanics, or a related field, with a strong background in earthquake source physics and fault mechanics. Experience with earthquake rupture modeling and/or data assimilation is highly preferred.
