UNAVCO seeks an experienced *Software Engineer/Web Developer *to support UNA
VCO’s web development and maintenance. UNAVCO maintains and operates the
Geodetic Facility for the Advancement of Geoscience (GAGE) which provides
support to the NSF investigator community for geodesy, Earth Sciences re
search, education and workforce development with broad societal benefits. As
part of GAGE, UNAVCO operates a large network of geodetic instruments (prima
rily GNSS) and a world class data facility and archive. This facility
supports a broad range of applications from the study of plate tectonics and
earthquakes to real-time precise vehicle navigation and fiducial networks.



The *Software Engineer/Web Developer *will work with other development teams
to build web applications and enhance existing web applications. They will
work with other UNAVCO organizations to gather requirements and provide fee
dback. They may also work with UNAVCO community members on defining requirem
ents to address community needs. This position is expected to help support
the existing web site (mostly written in PHP) and work with another
organization to transition material from existing to new WordPress site.



This position will also perform the role of a software engineer with
responsibility for design, development, implementation, testing, and docume
ntation for software to support web applications. Developing software and pr
oviding technical leadership in software development of new technologies,
choosing between alternative approaches with originality and significant
technical risk. Participate in development of non-user facing software and
helps other developers with user interface designs. Determining testing
philosophy, goals and objectives.




*Required Education and Experience:*



Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Ge
ophysics or related field and six years software development experience.




*Job Location*



Boulder, Colorado, United States. UNAVCO supports a robust remote work en
vironment, while the job is located in Boulder, alternate living locations
will be considered.
