UNAVCO seeks a *Permitting Assistant *to support the permitting team and pro
ject managers with renewing permits with land owners for the Network of the
Americas (NOTA). NOTA is comprised of over 1200 geophysical stations
(GPS/GNSS, borehole strainmeter + seismic) that span Alaska, the lower 48
states, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. A subset of NOTA
stations contributes to the United States Geological Survey (USGS)
ShakeAlert program, the earthquake early warning system in California,
Oregon, and Washington.



UNAVCO, is a Boulder, Colorado based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, univ
ersity governed consortium that facilitates geoscience research and ed
ucation using geodesy. UNAVCO maintains and operates the Geodetic Facility for
the Advancement of Geoscience (GAGE) which provides support to the National
Science Foundation (NSF) investigator community for geodesy, Earth Sciences
research, education and workforce development with broad societal benefits.
As part of GAGE, UNAVCO operates a large network of geodetic instruments
(primarily GNSS) and a world class data facility and archive.



For over three decades, UNAVCO has spearheaded the use of cutting-edge
technology while providing robust operational support for researchers
exploring tectonics (earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics), the
deformation of ice, the Earth's response to groundwater, sea level, and
aspects of the hydrosphere, and atmosphere. UNAVCO operates a multinational
network of geophysical instrumentation on behalf of the National Science
Foundation.



The *Permitting Assistant *works closely with the Senior Contracts and Pe
rmitting Manager and Project Manager on permitting and landowner relations
as it relates to land use. The Permitting Assistant is an ambassador
representing UNAVCO’s values to scientists, private landowners, sponsors,
private companies, public agencies and other community members during the pe
rmitting process and is expected to strengthen relationships between these c
onstituents and UNAVCO.


*Essential Job Functions*


- Contact and work with landowners to renew expiring permits via various
communication methods (email, telephone, field visits, etc.).
- Maintain, compile data and organize permit and operational
spreadsheets (fees, expiration dates, renewals, landowner information,
etc.).
- Facilitate renewals with adequate lead time prior to expiration.
- Coordinate site access and secured location access and arrange site
logistics.
- Process purchase requests and logistics and facilitate check requests
with Business Affairs.
- Perform essential customer relations duties to continue building
goodwill between UNAVCO and the landowner.
- Maintain liability insurance certificates.
- Light field work and warehouse tasks.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the successful operation
of the business.

*Job Location*

UNAVCO supports a robust remote work environment, while it is preferred
that this incumbent be located within Colorado or California, alternate
living locations in the western United States will be considered.

*Required Experience*



- Associate’s degree in physical science, engineering, English,
construction or related field and one (1) year related administrative
and/or permitting work experience.

OR Three (3) years of administrative or permitting
experience.

- Strong command of the English language in written and oral
communication (English as a first language is not required).
- Experience using MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint.


*Other Requirements*

- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft and motor
vehicle up to 5 consecutive days in a month.

*Salary and Benefits*

This position is intended to be full-time, benefits eligible employment.
However, part-time (non-benefits eligible) employment may be possible under
the right business conditions. UNAVCO offers very competitive benefits
including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Supplemental Benefits, 4
weeks Paid Time Off (PTO), and a retirement plan with a 10% employer contrib
ution.



Salary *- *$39,527.00 - $57,313.00 USD
