The Earthquake Physics Research Group in the Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (https://sites.google.com/view/skylui) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship. We specifically seek candidates with a background in observational seismology and/or numerical modeling of fault rupture dynamics.
Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research (such as publications in leading discipline-specific academic journals, presentations at significant conferences, and awards and accolades for work in the field), and must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field by the time of hire. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative research at the highest international level. They will also be expected to mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Excellence in student mentoring may be demonstrated by successfully supervised student theses, presentations, or publications, evidence of strong performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, and strong referee endorsements on the subject of student mentoring.
Applications should submit (1) a cover letter outlining their research and mentoring experience and areas of expertise, (2) a statement of research interests, (3) current curriculum vitae, and (4) names of two referees. This position is expected to begin within the 2021-22 academic year, but the exact start date is flexible. Initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
