Institution: University of New Mexico
Open Until: 2021-11-15
Applications are sought for a postdoctoral research fellow in seismology at the University of New Mexico. The researcher will focus on detection, location, and characterization of low magnitude intraplate seismicity at local to regional scales using compilations of temporary arrays. Key attributes for the ideal candidate are enthusiasm and computational skills for implementing automated processing of large volumes of heterogeneous seismic data. The postdoc will be jointly mentored by Dr. Brandon Schmandt (UNM) and Dr. Jenny Nakai (now at USGS). The position will be located at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. The initial appointment would be for 1 year, with potential for extension. Interested applicants should send their CV, 1-page statement of related research interest and expertise, and contact information for 3 references. Application materials should be sent by email to bschmandt<at>unm.edu. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the position will be open until it is filled. A start date by January, 2022 is ideal, but there is flexibility for later dates. Applications from members of minoritized groups are strongly encouraged.
