The Department of Geology & Geophysics at the University of Utah seeks applications for two tenure track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning Fall Semester 2022. This is among several hires the Department anticipates within the next few years.

The first position is in the field of environmental earth science. The second position is in the area of petrology / geochronology / geochemistry / tectonics. Candidates whose research bridges multiple Earth science approaches and topics or who would foster new connections within or beyond the College of Mines & Earth Sciences are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally visible, externally funded research program and teach departmental courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Evaluation of applications will begin on January 1, 2022 and continue until the position is filled.

The Department of Geology & Geophysics is housed in the state-of-the-art Sutton Building, a sustainably-designed building with modern research and teaching facilities. Related campus research infrastructure includes the Global Change and Sustainability Center, Energy & Geoscience Institute, University of Utah Seismograph Stations, Center for High Performance Computing, Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, NanoFab Lab, Wasatch Environmental Observatory, and the EARTH Core and SIRFER biogeochemistry facilities.
