A two-year NASA-funded postdoctoral position in machine learning, earthquake
science, and hazards is available at the Department of Earth Sciences at
the University of Oregon. We seek a motivated scientist with a background
in geophysics, seismology, geodesy, or data science. Proficiency in
scientific computing is desirable. The research is broadly aimed at
developing techniques that leverage machine learning to increase the
utility of GNSS data. Potential applications of these methods include
detection of small magnitude earthquakes, transients, and real-time
characterization of earthquake and tsunami hazards.

The successful candidate will be jointly mentored by Profs. Diego Melgar
http://www.dmelgar.com/ and Amanda Thomas
https://pages.uoregon.edu/amthomas/, have access to state-of-the-art high
performance computing infrastructure, expertise and resources available
