The National Facility for Seismic Imaging (NFSI; www.nfsi.ca), in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dalhousie University, is in the process of developing a major new pool of Broadband Ocean Bottom Seismometers (BOBS). These instruments are being used for collaborative national and international studies of the Earth structure and earthquakes across the Canadian offshore regions and worldwide.

Reporting to the NFSI Manager, the Marine Instrument Technologist will be responsible for instrument maintenance, deployment and recovery, and data processing operations carried out as part of NFSI research projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and recover ocean bottom seismometers for scientific surveys around the world, frequently involving international travel and up to several weeks offshore.
- Instrument storage, maintenance, shipping support, and inventory.
- Condition, format, and archive data.
- Create documentation and write operational reports.
- Perform office administrative work such as generating procurement, shipping, and customs documentation.
- Represent NFSI in meetings or presentations if required.
