Seismic Field Engineer

Instrumental Software Technologies, Inc. (ISTI) is a geophysical software

Monitoring, and Advanced Processing and Consulting Services around these
disciplines.

ISTI seeks a Field Engineer to support assembling, testing, installing, and
maintaining seismic monitoring systems for domestic and international
customers.

Job Duties:

Take leadership of a field deployment from network design using existing
tools to successful implementation.

Assists in the assembly of components for remote seismic installations
(preparing station boxes, wiring solar panels, testing power systems).

Prepare and ship equipment to end users.

Assists in the configuration and testing of seismic instrumentation.

Support the installation, maintenance, and decommission of stations.

Operate software interfaces (web based, or software client) to configure
hardware.
-

Up to 50% travel; some on short notice.


Required Qualifications:
Must have good interpersonal communication skills and be self-motivated and
capable of problem-solving, both individually (unsupervised) and as a team
member. Highly organized and strong attention to details and
documentation. Basic use of hand and power tools. Ability to lift 50
pounds. A valid Driver's License is required. Comfortable traveling to
remote locations and wayfinding. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DC power
fundamentals and solar power systems are a plus. Must be able to pass a
drug test since some of our customers require this level of detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with basic physical principles and knowledge of engineering and
electronic principles. Knowledge of data collection procedures, data entry
procedures, and computerized spreadsheets and databases. Familiarity with
programming languages (Python, Matlab, etc.) and seismology programs:
Obspy, SAC, Seiscomp, Earthworm, GMT desired. Experience with seismic
equipment and fieldwork desired. Knowledge of Linux/Unix desired. Any
coursework in computer programming is a plus.

The candidate will preferably be located near Saratoga Springs, NY,
although remote position will be considered with access to a nearby large
airport. The position is preferred to be filled as a full-time employee
with salary commensurate with experience. ISTI offers excellent health and

Education: A successful applicant may have a combination of experience and
education such as a graduate of electrical engineering or technologist
program, or a degree in geology/geophysics with sufficient experience.
