I hope to convert SAC to seed, tried to use sac2mseed, but the rdseed

Thanks!

    Dear Xuan Gong -

This is probably not what you want to do, because you need significantly more data to build seed from either SAC or mseed than simply the data. Think carefully whether you really need to do this.

For one solution, see the SeedStuff link from

    http://www.orfeus-eu.org/Software/seed-utilities.html

    Dear Xuan Gong,

I suspect that sac2mseed does not create SEED headers,
since miniSEED files do not have them. rdseed will not
read miniSEED files unless there is also a "dataless
SEED file" containing the headers (which contain the
    station metadata).

If you can obtain a "dataless seed" file then rdseed
will read your miniSEED files if, before running rdseed,
you define the environment variable ALT_RESPONSE_FILE to
be the name of your dataless SEED file
    (in sh/bash shell, "export ALT_RESPONSE_FILE=<dataless SEED filename>")

I do not know how to create a dataless SEED file from
SAC files or any other file. When I last looked into it,
it seemed to be obscure and difficult. Is there someone
else on the list who can help with that?

    Sheila Peacock.
