Hello SAC users,
I want to use "plotpk" with the "savelocs on" option to save picks to
blackboard variables, and then do some calculations with the blackboard
variables (specifically, measure amplitude and period in order to
calculate magnitudes).
To do this I need to temporarily unset the time information in the SAC
header, so that plotpk saves the x locations as offsets, rather than as
gmt date-time strings. This is all fine.
However, I find that the blackboard variables saved are no…

Dear All,
should "readgse" get the station latitude,
longitude, elevation and emplacement depth from the "STA2" line of a
standard IMS file and put them into the SAC header
STLA and STLO, STEL and STDP? It doesn't seem
to at present. It would be most useful if it did -
save us a stage of data-conversion when we receive
data by AutoDRM.
Thanks!
Sheila Peacock,
Blacknest.

Dear sac-help:
I was wondering if you could clarify the convention for CMPINC.
CMPINC is define here
http://www.iris.edu/software/sac/manual/file_format.html as "Component
incident angle (degrees from vertical).
vang in the antelope schema is defined as:
This attribute measures the angle between the sensitive axis of a
seismometer and the outward-pointing vertical direction. For a vertically
oriented seismometer, vang = 0, or 180 (to reverse the sense of the
instrument). For a horizontally o…

Regard,
Is there any way to shade or fill color signals in the SAC, an example would
be as is often done for receiver functions
Thanks,

Today I upgraded to sac 101.5c. It now provides big and little endian compatibility which we needed. However, it is spitting out copious warnings about missing header values such as

Hello Everybody,
I am running Chuck Ammon's codes for receiver functions which is generating
the sac files like smp.mod_sp.r, smp.mod_sp.z, where the smp.mod is the
name of the velocity model. Now the problem is that when I am trying to
read these sac file it is showing some error like " ERROR 1301: No data
files read in."
I have tried to read these files on 64 as well as 32 bit systems both but
couldn't be able to read . Can anybody tell me what would be the possible
problem ?
Thanks

Re: Error in data files read in - Arthur Snoke - 2012-04-05 21:04:02
Hi,
I am attempting to use the SAC input/output libraries to compile a Fortran77 code for reading and filtering SAC data. I seem to be having trouble linking to the libraries:
>g77 -C -ffixed-line-length-0 -I/usr/local/sac/include -L/usr/local/sac/lib -lsacio filtersac.f -o filtersac
ld: warning: in /usr/local/sac/lib/libsacio.a, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (i386)

Hello
do the external interface commands still work, ie. compiled commands
into a library libext.so (as defined by SACSOLIST), which need to be
activated with
load command
(see sac manual
http://www.iris.edu/software/sac/commands/external_interface.html)
I used to have some commands that used to work (a long time ago,
admittedly), but now start working (I can tell from some logging
messages beinng generated), but then quit with segmentation fault before
returning to sac prompt.
This i…
