Hello all,
I have the sac macro like this:
sc mkdir GoodOnes
do file wild R.*
setbb vert $file
r %vert
p1
setbb resp (REPLY "Enter g to copy the file to GoodOnes")
if %resp eq "g" then
sc cp %vert GoodOnes
else
Message "...This was a bad event."
endif
enddo
I want to plot each file and examine it and then send it to GoodOnes folder
by typing "g". But the graphic window it shows does not plot anything at
all and it is all white.
What could be the possible error. Please help.

You may need to divide the response-removed seismogram by 1.0e9 before writinhg it
e.g
r ???.sac
rmean
rtrend
taper
TRANSFER FROM EVALRESP FNAME $r TO NONE FREQLIM 2.1 2.15 15.5 16.1 PREW 6
DIV 1.0e9
w ???.dsp

Hi
I want to ask if there is any way to get the RMS of Spectral Amplitude in sac ? RMS command in SAC is design for time domain, although it works in frequency domain also but I am not sure about the results. I need to measure the spectral amplitude and I am seeking a way more dependable than taking a maximum amplitude. Is the Hilbert transforming and taking maximum amplitude afterward a good alternative for taking RMS?

Re: poles and zeros - Sheila Peacock - 2014-01-13 20:08:46
dear all,
i've extracted sac file into text file which contains a time series of
particular earthquake. I'm going to import it to EERA in order to have
response spectra.
However, i'm little bit confused with physical unit of this time series
where it does not mention obviously in this text file.
I've tried to write a command as follow:
%saclst idep f II.COCO.00.BH1.M.2004.361.010030.SAC
the output is
"12345"
i have no idea to solve it.
Kindly advice
regards

Hello,
I am trying to do a simple CUT on a collection of 21 seismograms. The time
stamps of T0 and T1 are placed using PPK. When I execute cut as follows,
however, I get an error.
SAC> CUT OFF
SAC> CUT ON
SAC> R CUT_GGNV_BHZ.SAC
WARNING: Start cut greater than stop cut for file CUT_GGNV_BHZ.SAC
time: 0.000000 >= 0.000000
index: 1 >= 1
ERROR 1301: No data files read in.
This doesn't make sense to me because clearly T0 < T1 for each and every
file. Also, I am not sure why SAC is trying to c…

Dear Chad,
Thanks so much for this clear explanation.
I've extracted a sac file as enclosed in attachment.
After plotting it into EERA, I'm little bit confused regarding unit of these numbers, whether it is velocity, acceleration or displacement.
Could you help me please?

Hi,
I have encountered problems using evalresp when using the same routines
that have worked before. The RESP files from a new set of data have
transfer function coefficients of type B in the response coefficient
section which is causing a problem (B054F03 Transfer function type:
B).
The error I get is:
; Stage: 1]):
parse_coeff; parsing (FIR_ASYM), unexpected filter type ('B'),
skipping to…

Dear all,
I am a new user of SAC and the version is 101.6. I learn it myself without any guidance from anybody else, so I get some troubles for your help.
First when I use saclst to list the DIST of epicentre, it can't work. For example:
>saclst dist o a f 2039471.CI.LUC.EHZ.sac 2032039471.CI.LUC.EHZ.sac 2039471.CI.PLS.ELN.sac9471.CI.PLS.ELN.sac
2039471.CI.LUC.EHZ.sac -12345 0 7.779
2039471.CI.PLS.ELN.sac -12345 0 -12345

Hi,Januka,
Thank you very much for your answer. The usage of saclst tells us it could output more than one variable at a time.
Usage: saclst header_lists f file_lists
ex. saclst delta npts kstnm f sacfile1 sacfile2
saclst help - outputs a list of possible values
In fact I can use it to list headers for some data I downloaded before. But it cannot work for data I downloaded yesterday. It is very strange. I try to output only DIST at a time, but it still not works. It seems that th…
