Hello. I am working on code that retrieves corrected traces from the DMC using the dataselect and tracedsp web services. I notice that a second retrieval of the same data is much, much faster, presumably because the data is being cached by the DMC web services. I am retrieving broadband 40Hz data in 60-hour increments. Do these web services cache more data than I ask for? Can I speed up my requests by either sequentially asking for data for the same channel (i.e., ask for 60 hours of BHZ for … [more]

Hello web service users, At the DMC we are migrating our main Oracle database to new hardware. During this planned down time the web services will also be offline. The downtime will begin on Monday September 17th at approximately 4pm Pacific time (23:00 UTC). The services will be put into maintenance mode shortly before that time. We expect the database migration to be completed by the end of the next day (Tuesday), possibly sooner. Assuming the transition is smooth the services will be … [more]

Hello all, I am looking at using the IRIS Station Web Service as a replacement for DHI. For station metadata I tried the StationXML output but the performance was very slow when many channels are required. The text output has excellent performance and it general works very well. However I noticed a problem with the station level text output for network IC station QIZ. http://www.iris.edu/ws/station/query?&output=text&level=sta&net=IC&starttime=2012-09-20T16:25:40.814 The information for netw… [more]

Hello web services users, The DMC has released a new version of ws-event (1.2.3). This version include all changes in the 1.2.2 beta release. http://www.iris.edu/ws/event/ http://www.iris.edu/ws/doc/event_help.htm This release is backwards compatible with the current production release with one notable behavior change: by default only the primary magnitude is returned for each event. Previously all magnitudes were returned for each event by default. Other changes include new text output f… [more]

Hi What are the default values for minimumlength and longestonly? I am guessing 0 and false, but the docs don't say. http://www.iris.edu/ws/bulkdataselect/ Also, have you found a performance increase with bulkdataselect over dataselect for large miniseed downloads? thanks Philip
