METART PROJECT

  Study of vibrations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
         1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY.

Instrumentation:

  Six RefTek RT-130 recorders with Terra Tech SSA-320 force balance
  accelerometers. The sensors are +- 2g full scale at +- 2.5 volts,
  or 1.25 volts per 1g. Recording was at 200 sps. The data are in
  six directories, segy format, SUN byte order.

Vibration source:

  A Tramac V46 rock hammer with 7500 ft. lbs. per blow was placed
  on Manhattan schist 2-3 meters outside the building near the
  location of instrument number three. The source was only moved
  as much as necessary to strike on fully competent rock.

Deployment:

  Data were collected on 12 March 2007, day 071. Instruments were
  deployed in six configurations indicated on the drawings in
  DEPLOY_Set_1-6_LDEO.pdf. Instrument number three was a reference
  site near the source of excitation and was at the same location
  for all six deployments. The geographic coordinates of instrument
  three were latitude 40.7804 longitude -73.9636.

  The source was operated to produce approximately four minutes
  of vibration for analysis. If the hammering site broke away too
  quickly the hammer had to be reset on a new competent site and
  a excitation was started again to achieve approximately four
  minutes of continuous duration. The times of excitation which
  we chose for analysis were:

  deployment 1     12:55:03 to 12:59:44   all are UTC
                   13:21:01 to 13:25:21   hour:minute:second
                   13:36:05 to 13:39:27

  deployment 2     14:19:00 to 14:23:17
                   14:41:01 to 14:45:04

  deployment 3     17:08:00 to 17:11:58
                   17:37:59 to 17:42:00

  deployment 4     18:25:10 to 18:29:16

  deployment 5     19:23:10 to 19:27:10
                   19:32:58 to 19:37:04

  deployment 6     20:10:58 to 20:15:00
