Sandy Stromme - Software Engineer

Sandy was born in Seattle and grew up picking berries, fishing, clam digging and she still tries to do those things when the traffic allows. She graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Western Washington University and started her career as a computer programmer at the Boeing Company. Sandy’s first introduction to Seismology was in her position at the University of Washington working on SPYDER®. The academic community seemed like a pretty well behaved user base, so Sandy is back…with IRIS. Her current projects at IRIS include developing unified methods for handling near real time data delivered by disparate systems, delivering this data to the new FARM, and continued support of data synchronization efforts.

Sandy is married to Randy, and they have a not so well behaved 3-year-old Melissa who makes things very fun and very busy.
