Linus Kamb - Software Engineer

Linus joins IRIS to work on the SCEC Community Modeling Environment project. He will be working on XML-based interfaces to the archived seismic data, as well as extending the FISSURES project for geologic and geodetic data. He has 6 years of development experience mostly in Java, databases, and distributed systems. Before coming to IRIS, Linus worked at a small start-up in Salt Lake that produced a GUI-based tool to distribute and synchronize data between heterogeneous data sources. He has a MS in Computer Science from the University of Utah, and a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley.

In a previous life, Linus worked in architecture and construction doing design/build and project management for high end residential remodeling projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Salt Lake City, Utah. He still enjoys building projects, as well as mountain biking, hiking, camping, cooking, and playing with his 9 month old son. Now living in the Seattle area, he hopes to take up sailing, sea kayaking, or some other water-based activity.
