Are you a graduate student? Post-doc? Researcher? Pre-tenure faculty?
Senior faculty with an interest in giving back to the community? IRIS is
sponsoring a program to foster the development of Early Career
Investigators.
We will hold a special interest group meeting during the 2012 IRIS
Workshop in Boise, Idaho at 11:30 am on Thursday 6/14. A description of
the event is available here: http://www.iris.edu/hq/iris_workshop2012/agenda
The agenda for the SIG is available here: http://www.iris.edu/hq/eci/
The ECI working group (Maggie Benoit, Harmony Colella, Andy Frassetto,
and Danielle Sumy) encourages you to try out the webpage between now and
the workshop. We welcome the contribution of materials in the hope that
developing scientists and educators will spend less time reinventing the
wheel when it comes to the preparation of teaching and research
materials. The login/password for submitting/accessing protected content
is listed in the code of conduct.
The content of this page has been initially based on the feedback
provided by attendees from the IRIS Early Career Breakfast at AGU 2011.
Please contribute to the page and let us know what you think!
Sincerely,
The ECI Working Group

Thanks Andy and Working Group. I would love to contribute my
seismology and geophysics notes, as well as the geodynamics notes I hope
to develop this Fall (does anyone out there have any notes they'd be
willing to share?). However, I worry that most of us do not have all
our figures, etc. properly cited, and this may preclude many
submissions. Perhaps the code of conduct could be loosened a bit to
say that: this is an informal sharing of materials and a a good faith
effort to properly acknowledge everyone was made?

Derek,
That's a fair point. We revised the CoC to be more lenient for teaching
material, essentially what you suggested. Also, for now the password to
protected access areas has been removed from the CoC. It will be
available to new users who sign up to the listserv. For everyone already
on here:
Login: eci
Password: earthquake10.5
Cheers,
A
