Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the development of a 3D global attenuation model of the earth's upper mantle, using full waveform modeling and numerical wavefield computations.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in geophysics, and some experience in numerical methods.
The position is funded through the European Research Council and is based in Paris, France, within an international team which includes researchers in Paris and the Univ. of California at Berkeley. The post-doctoral researcher is expected to spend several weeks in Berkeley each year.

The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Salary is between 2800-3200 euros/month (net, i.e. after benefit deductions), depending on experience beyond PhD.

Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a summary of research experience and interests, and the names of three potential referees, to Prof. Barbara Romanowicz (barbara<at>ipgp.fr). We are looking for someone who can start by 09/2014 and possibly earlier. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. For more information, please contact Barbara Romanowicz.
