Presenter: Dr. Fred W. Schroeder, Retired from ExxonMobil and Noble Energy

Abstract: Two main questions for those who explore for oil and gas are: what blocks should my company acquire and where should we drill exploration wells? The concept of play elements, the critical factors needed for success, is used to answer both of these questions.

In this webinar we will describe and consider what play elements are, why they are important, and how we evaluate them. Geophysical data, in particular reflection seismic data, is essential for this type of evaluation. I will present a basic workflow and then briefly describe each step, with examples to illustrate key points. At the end of the webinar, the viewer will understand how essential reflection seismology data and interpretation are in this process.

Bio: Dr. Fred W. Schroeder has 39 years of experience in oil & gas exploration, research and training. After earning his PhD in marine geology from Columbia University, he started a 32 year career with Exxon/ExxonMobil. His main skill is seismic interpretation, with an emphasis on seismic stratigraphy and seismic attribute analysis. Fred taught many in-house schools for ExxonMobil and Noble Energy, has taught a graduate course at Texas A&M, and has participated in over 75 short courses on university campuses across the US.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. NOTE: Registration does not confirm or guarantee you will have a spot during the webinar, as we are limited to 100 participants.
