We are pleased to announce the release of the IRIS EMC’s Web-based 2D visualization tools bundle. By installing this bundle, users can locally host the same visualization tools that are currently available from the IRIS EMC website (http://ds.iris.edu/dms/products/emc/horizontal_slice.html). Using the local configuration parameters, users could customize plots and create visualization plots from their own local netCDF Earth model files.

This bundle contains the following HTML pages and the supporting Python CGIs, libraries, configuration files and style sheets:

* horizontal_slice.html - The Horizontal Slice Viewer UI to plot a depth slice from a selected Earth model.
* horizontal_slice_stack.html - The Slice Stack Viewer UI to compare up to 4 depth slices by stacking them vertically.
* generalized_cross_section.html - The Generalized Cross-section Viewer UI to create a vertical slice through a selected Earth model along a great circle path with given start and end points.
* cross_section_stack.html - The Cross-section Stack Viewer UI to display up to 4 user-defined cross-sections.
* depth_profile.html - The Depth Profile Viewer UI to plot model variables as a function of depth for up to 4 locations/models.

The software requirements for this package:

* Web server (e.g. Apache httpd)
* Python 2.7 (with netcdf4, numpy and requests modules)
* netCDF Operator (NCO) packages
* The Generic Mapping Tools 4 (GMT 4)
* ImageMagick

This package is available from the IRIS SeisCode repository:
